Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: Her Timeless Date Night Style

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy: Her Timeless Date Night Style

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's 90s minimalist style was simply iconic. Though, it was her timeless & elegant evening wear that truly captured our attention. Despite her premature death in 1999, her style still stands the test of time. Discover our Valentines inspiration this year.

LOOK ONE

At the 1998 Municipal Art Society Gala in New York, is our favourite photograph of the love birds. We see John F. Kennedy Jr looking dapper in a tux, & Carolyn looking irresistible in a black, strapless, fitted maxi dress to effortlessly show off her décolletage.

She paired her gown with a set of black long velvet gloves & a matching clutch. For heels, she wore black pumps that included a strappy detailing around the ankles.

Simple & stunning, we love!

Hair into a chignon to once again display her elegant décolletage, & a classy red lip. Incredibly feminine. At a glance, we note that she opted for no jewellery this evening. She was indeed known for her minimalism.

LOOK TWO

Carolyn was almost always spotted in black & midi/maxi dresses during her date night/evening wear looks. This occasion on an evening out in New York, she wore a deep v neck, tastefully displaying her cleavage. To finish the look, she opted for a trench style, knee length black jacket.

We can just imagine this look with our Black Caroline Poncho!

 LOOK THREE

This look sees Carolyn once again in her signature style in a strapless dress, black pumps & a matching elegant jacket. On this occasion, she opted for a black croc clutch.

LOOK FOUR

At the White House state dinner in 1998, Carolyn shone in a black long maxi dress with a draped elegant cowl neckline. Accessories included long black gloves, a clutch, pumps, and her signature chignon & red lip.

LOOK FIVE

On this night, Carolyn opted for timeless and chic accessories to enhance her outfit. This included a black beret & fur scarf.

LOOK SIX

On this occasion, Carolyn wore an impeccably structured blazer cinched in at the waist to enhance her femininity. Alongside, we see her signature chignon, red lip & the addition of pearl earrings.

Chef's kiss!

LOOK SEVEN

At the 1999 gala of the Whitney Museum of American Art, Carolyn wore a classic pressed white shirt, with pronounced folded cuffs and an elaborate yet simple collar. The impeccable tailoring of the shirt saw no visible buttons, and was paired with a maxi silk black skirt & open toe heels.

For a pop of colour, she accessorised with a sparkly, gold, small pouch.

In our opinion, the combination of pieces resulted in a seamless & classy look, contributing to her feminine allure & pure charm.

LOOK EIGHT

Another one of our favourite looks, see Carolyn in a black off-the-shoulder long-sleeve top, with what appears as either a velvet or silk black maxi skirt. She matched with a clutch & simple black pumps.
The result is seamless, tastefully enhancing her feminine silhouette.

Now imagine Carolyn in our Caroline Poncho. What an honour this would have been! Nevertheless, you can create her looks with the addition of our poncho this Valentines Day.
