Whitney Houston Evening Style

Whitney Houston's angelic voice will forever inarguably be the greatest of all time. Her charisma, beauty and natural talent gave her a unique edge and commanding presence everywhere she went. It is only right we dive deeper into our favourite evening looks before her tragic end.

May you draw inspiration for what to wear this Valentines day.

LOOK ONE: A RED BUSTY DISPLAY

Following The Bodyguard in 1992, Whitney opted for a red flowy dress with a bandaged bustier detailing. The look was paired with a beautiful diamond set including drop earrings and a matching necklace to decorate her elegant neckline. A smoky eye, red lip and black clutch topped off the look.

She stood arm in arm with her timeless connection, Kevin Costner.

LOOK TWO: A BLACK VELVET FITTED DRESS

At the Carousel of Hope Ball in 1996, Beverly Hills, California, Whitney was spotted looking absolutely stunning in a black fitted velvet dress that elongated and accentuated her figure.

The dress had a halterneck detailing that hung behind the neck to emphasise her décolletage. Her short hairstyle effortlessly showed off and highlighted this feature.

Fond of diamonds, Whitney accessorised with a diamond bracelet, earrings and rings. Minimalistic, luxurious and timeless.

Her signature smokey eye finished with a soft nude lip enhanced her beauty.

LOOK THREE: A GRAMMY WINNING ANGELIC DRESS

Adding another Grammy to her collection in 1994, Whitney wore a magnificent white long sleeve scoop neck evening gown. On a closer look, the dress was detailed with glistening embellishments.

Her curly up-do drew us to her elegant neck which she accessorised with a minimalistic diamond necklace. Alongside was a matching diamond bracelet and her stunning engagement ring.

Though her angelic smile was the real accessory!

LOOK FOUR: STATUESQUE IN A COLUMN GOWN

In the 1999 Soul Train Music Awards, Whitney looked statuesque in a column-like bandeau embellished evening gown. The look was perfectly complimented with a sleek bob and minimalistic jewellery.

She stood arm in arm with Luther Vandross.

LOOK FIVE: THE LADY IN RED

Welcoming Home the Heroes in 1991, Whitney donned an incredibly elegant red long dress, including a plunging V-neckline and shoulder pads. The dress was also enhanced with a centred V-slit below her knees.

The performance was magical, from her dress, to her voice, to her hair, she was truly the lady in red!

LOOK SIX: DRAPED IN A FUR PONCHO

Glamorous in an embellished bandeau flowy gown, Whitney draped a fur lined poncho and sparkly clutch to finish off the look.
